Video: Panel Discussion at CSIS on Nigeria’s Upcoming Elections

I recently participated in a panel discussion at the Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) on 30 January 2019. The event was entitled: “Nigeria’s 2019 Elections: Insecurity, Economic Adversity and Political Competition”. The conversation was with Carl LeVan, Associate Professor at the School of International Service, American University and Judd Devermont, Director of the Africa Program at CSIS.

  1. WELL DONE ZAINAB. PRAYING FOR MORE WISDOM FOR YOU. THE DEBATE WAS INCISIVE. THIS ELECTION IS AN EYE OPENER. I DISCOVERED THAT ALOT OF NIGERIANS DON’T CARE ABOUT THE FUTURE OF NIGERIA, BUT WHAT IS “REAPABLE” AT THE MOMENT. A LADY TOLD ME THAT THIS IS HÈR TIME, AND SHE MUST NOT SUFFER BUT ENJOY HER TIME. THAT HER CHILDREN AND HER GRANDCHILDREN SHOULD ALSO FIGHT FOR THEMSELVES WHEN THEIR TIME COMES. I TOLD HER, QED, NO FURTHER DEBATE. THANK GOD YOU HAVE THE INGREDIENTS OF U. K. IN YOU, SO THAT WHENEVER YOU COME BACK TO HELP NIGERIA IN THE FUTURE, YOU WON’T BE THINKING LIKE US BACK HOME. CORRUPTION HAS BEEN CUSTOMIZED IN EVERY FACET OF NIGERIA’S STRUCTURE. DA AJI KUNYAR DUNIYA, GWANDA AJI TA LAHIRA: THIS THE EXTENT SOME OF US ARE THINKING. I WOULD NOT BE SURPRISED IF PRESIDENT MB LOST THE ELECTION. BCOS AS LONG AS WE DECIDE TO REMAIN MYOPIC, WHO IS TO BLAME. LET’S CARRY OUR CROSS, OURSELVES. AND THE NORTH WOULD SUFFER THE CONSEQUENCES THE MOST. BRAIN DRAIN CONTINUES. IAM WORKING ON A BOOK “REGULATORY REFORMS AS THE TOOL FOR INCLUSIVE DEVELOPMEN, AND TO FIGHT CORRUPTION IN NIGERIA”. THE BAPTISMAL OF NIGERIA’S PUBLIC SERVICE INSTITUTION, IS THE BEGINNING OF WISDOM FOR PMB. YOU MAY WISH TO ASSIST WITH ANY RELEVANT MATERIAL. REMAIN BLESSED. YOUNG CHAPS LIKE YOU GIVE ME LOTS OF HOPE FOR NIGERIA. BE STRONG AND DARING ZAINAB. MY WARM REGARDS, SALIM
